Since 2018, the French Development Agency has set up urban nurseries in Dakar, Ouagadougou, Abidjan, Tunis and Gabès. Designed as an agile intervention tool that complements traditional AFD instruments, the « Pépinière urbaine » promotes new, more participatory ways of doing things, as well as the implementation of innovative urban initiatives focused on concrete, temporary and/or scalable micro-projects.

The project has three objectives that refer to 3 complementary tasks that dialogue and feed off each other: 1/ Evaluate the system and impact of the « Pépinières » in Dakar, Ouagadougou, Abidjan, Tunis and Gabès 2/ Draw up a mapping of citizen initiatives and/or innovative urban projects in the South 3/ Produce research on transitional urbanism.
